We’re thrilled to announce SpecSync v5 — probably the most important update in our almost 10-year history. This release lands for both SpecSync for Azure DevOps and SpecSync for Jira, and from now on the two products will be versioned together under the same semantic versioning scheme.

What’s new
- Unified semantic versioning (SemVer): v5 introduces semantic versioning across both products, making compatibility expectations clear; see our updated versioning policy: https://docs.specsolutions.eu/specsync/roadmap#release-model
- Configuration upgrade & migration wizard: specsync upgrade analyzes your config, fixes deprecated settings, offers new options, and guides migrations to v5 and future releases; see the upgrade wizard docs: https://docs.specsolutions.eu/specsync/features/general-features/configuration-wizards#upgrade-wizard
- Hierarchy synchronization (Azure DevOps): built-in hierarchy configurations and custom hierarchies replace the old addTestCasesToSuites customization; configure via hierarchies to auto-build complex Test Suite hierarchies; you can choose from 7 different hierarchy types — for example deriving suites from feature file folder structure. More: https://docs.specsolutions.eu/specsync/features/common-synchronization-features/synchronizing-test-case-hierarchies
- Remote scope options: choose managed queries, tags, or dedicated suites to track deleted or moved test cases. Details: https://docs.specsolutions.eu/specsync/features/common-synchronization-features/remote-scope
- Configuration keys: mark test cases with a config key to detect conflicts across multiple SpecSync configs. Learn more: https://docs.specsolutions.eu/specsync/features/common-synchronization-features/configuration-key
- Pipeline and CLI improvements: clearer pipeline failures, optional warning-to-error handling, better logging, glob support for test result files, multi-use command options, and built-in command-line completion.
- License keys: use license keys (including env var support) alongside license files.
