BDD Addict Newsletter January 2021 (BEST OF 2020) (#51)

by Gáspár on January 19, 2021

Dear All,

First of all, I wish you a very happy new year for 2021! Are you busy? For me, the first few weeks have not been very intense. Usually there are not many trainings in the first months and I really have to force myself to progress on other duties I have. Especially since we’ve just got the first snow this winter… Who wants to work when this happens? (In Hungary there are usually only a few weeks of snow only, and it is getting less and less.) BDD Addict Newsletter December 2020 (#50)

But how valuable is the documentation if nobody uses it? In this section we are focusing on how to make our living documentation better accessible to all stakeholders. In a remote environment this is particularly important.

In Part 1 we have discussed how we can ensure shared understanding in remote environments using examples during the online requirement workshops. As mentioned there, those workshops focused on getting the most out of the precious time together, therefore the result (the rules and the examples) have been captured in a simple form, not using Given/When/Then.

Even as we slowly open offices, remote work remains the norm. The sudden shift to remote work clearly exposed the importance – and challenges – of remote collaboration. Now that a few months of experience has helped us understand the scope of the challenge, it is a great time to consider how we can use methodologies like BDD to improve remote collaboration.
