Even as we slowly open offices, remote work remains the norm. The sudden shift to remote work clearly exposed the importance – and challenges – of remote collaboration. Now that a few months of experience has helped us understand the scope of the challenge, it is a great time to consider how we can use methodologies like BDD to improve remote collaboration.

Dear BDD Addicts,

November started with an unusually warm weather and brought a considerable increase of the virus spread that has been followed by stricter restrictions in most of the countries. At the HUSTEF conference where I was a track chair someone showed the Cynefin model, which classifies domains into chaotic, complex, complicated and obvious ones. And there is also a confusion area where we don’t even know where we are. So where are we now? Are we able to make well-prepared experiments and evaluate the results about COVID? This would be required to get to the complex phase.

Initially I thought I would make a list of things that are required to adopt Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) successfully. But then I was thinking about the projects where we introduced BDD: if all these criteria would have been required, we should have failed with most of them. In fact I learned about some of the items in this list while adopting BDD. And it was an exciting journey!
